Post-clearPatient on the road to recovery. I've noted that conversation with patient "Hailey" can help with the butterflies in his stomach.

"Everything will be okay. We still have each other!"

Intimate (1-2) is a level in Rhythm Doctor. The Night Shift version is Intimate (Night).

It introduces the characters Logan and Hailey, and the Row Xs mechanic.

Synopsis

The player treats Logan for what Ian calls "excessive schmaltziness." Halfway through the level, Hailey insists on being treated in the same room as Logan. The player and Dr Paige cooperate to treat the two, Paige handling Hailey's row. After the level, Hailey explains to Logan that she got worried since he had told her he was going to the hospital without any explanation. Logan apologizes, explaining that he said "something stupid" in their last conversation, before Hailey cuts him off to reassure him, saying that they now have time to discuss what it was that he wanted to say. Paige then continues the player's tour of the hospital.

PaigeSpriteS.png Hey! Before we move on, some tips about a new type of heartbeat...
PaigeSpriteS.png This time, you'll get a new kind of patient.
PaigeSpriteS.png Sometimes people come to us with this problem.
PaigeSpriteS.png Their heart skips a beat. (So let's catch it while they're still in reach.)
PaigeSpriteS.png When a red X shows up on the line, that beat will be silent.
PaigeSpriteS.png Just count the numbers in your head...

On miss:
PaigeSpriteS.png Oh dear.
PaigeSpriteS.png Remember to hit the spacebar on the SEVENTH BEAT.
On barely:
PaigeSpriteS.png Aah, almost!
PaigeSpriteS.png If you are having trouble, try tapping out the ghost beats somewhere nearby.
On hit:
PaigeSpriteS.png Yuh-huh.
PaigeSpriteS.png One more.
PaigeSpriteS.png Nice!
PaigeSpriteS.png Good job.
IanSpriteS.png Your next patient isn't even actually sick.
IanSpriteS.png I think he's just suffering from excessive schmaltziness.
PaigeSpriteS.png Hopefully you can snap him out of it.
PaigeSpriteS.png Well, good luck!

2P Changes

  • Player 1 and Player 2 swap control of Logan's heartbeat three times. After the first interlude, Player 2 takes control of Hailey's heartbeat instead of the CPU. Paige's dialogue changes, directing Player 2 to take care of Hailey. Player 1 takes control of Logan's heartbeat. The two players retain control of their respective heartbeats until the level ends.

History

Trivia

  • If Two Player mode is enabled, the second player will be made to handle Hailey's row of heartbeats after the first interlude. Since 1-2 and 1-2N have identical beat patterns, with the only difference being a change in dialogue and visuals, this makes it able to functionally experience 1-2N before 1-2N is actually unlocked.
  • Additionally, in 1-2, Player 1 and Player 2 swap control of the first patient's standalone heartbeat several times. However, in 1-2N, Player 1 has full control of the first patient's standalone heartbeat, with Player 2 having no gameplay input until after the first interlude, where they take care of the second patient's heartbeat. This means that, on Two Player mode, 1-2 has more input complexity than its Night Shift variant, since the two players have to juggle control of the first patient's heartbeat.
  • This is one of two levels in which Two Player mode enables player control of a patient whose heartbeat is normally controlled by an NPC, the other being Distant Duet.
