The player treats Logan for what Ian calls "excessive schmaltziness." Halfway through the level, Hailey insists on being treated in the same room as Logan. The player and Dr Paige cooperate to treat the two, Paige handling Hailey's row. After the level, Hailey explains to Logan that she got worried since he had told her he was going to the hospital without any explanation. Logan apologizes, explaining that he said "something stupid" in their last conversation, before Hailey cuts him off to reassure him, saying that they now have time to discuss what it was that he wanted to say. Paige then continues the player's tour of the hospital.

Hey! Before we move on, some tips about a new type of heartbeat...
This time, you'll get a new kind of patient.
Sometimes people come to us with this problem.
Their heart skips a beat. (So let's catch it while they're still in reach.)
When a red X shows up on the line, that beat will be silent.
Just count the numbers in your head...
...and hit on the seventh beat.
(Excuse the nurse, she's Chinese.)
On miss:
Oh dear.
Remember to hit the spacebar on the SEVENTH BEAT.
On barely:
Aah, almost!
If you are having trouble, try tapping out the ghost beats somewhere nearby.
On hit:
Yuh-huh.
One more.
Nice!
Good job.
Your next patient isn't even actually sick.
I think he's just suffering from excessive schmaltziness.
Hopefully you can snap him out of it.
Well, good luck!
[Level start]
Doctor!
You've gotta help me!
My heart's not feeling too good...
I don't know what to do...
[Interlude]
What?!
Another patient is insisting on being treated in here as well.
[Single Player]
I'll handle the new one.
You focus on the boy.
What? Woah.
[Two Player]
Player Two!
You handle that one!
She's...
...
She's here too!
Great job, intern!
Woah, uh...hey H-Hailey, I had no idea you were here too.
Yeah! Well, funny story...
You said something about having to go to the hospital,
and then you never texted back to explain why!
So, I kinda started freaking out, thinking you got sick.
I got so worried, my chest started to hurt. So my parents had me come here too.
I didn't think it'd be so...musical, though.
W-we're, uh, experimenting with some new methods.
When I heard that you were on this floor too, I wanted to come visit!
Oh, cool!
Um, sorry. That last time we talked...I got flustered, I think I said something stupid. What I meant was-
No, don't worry about it! At least we have plenty of time to hang out while we're stuck here.
You can tell me whatever was really on your mind, okay?
Alright, that's probably enough for now. Let's let Logan get his rest.
Ready, intern? Let's continue the tour.
Did you see those two kiddos?
They totally have a thing for each other, that's what I think.
You would think I got the scoop from "eavesdropping", but...
...they just talk really loud, we can all hear them down the hall.

Trivia
If Two Player mode is enabled, the second player will be made to handle Hailey's row of heartbeats after the first interlude. Since 1-2 and 1-2N have identical beat patterns, with the only difference being a change in dialogue and visuals, this makes it able to functionally experience 1-2N before 1-2N is actually unlocked.
Additionally, in 1-2, Player 1 and Player 2 swap control of the first patient's standalone heartbeat several times. However, in 1-2N, Player 1 has full control of the first patient's standalone heartbeat, with Player 2 having no gameplay input until after the first interlude, where they take care of the second patient's heartbeat. This means that, on Two Player mode, 1-2 is actually more difficult than 1-2N, since the two players have to juggle control of the first patient's heartbeat.
This the only level in which Two Player mode enables player control of a patient whose heartbeat is normally controlled by an NPC.
