If the same row has more pattern variation, keeping the Free Time Beats with a '''[[Set Beat Sound|unique beatsound]]''' helps differentiate it from other patterns, and is the most common way of doing so.

Alternative ways of cueing Free Time Beats are by making a custom cue and pattern, though this is generally discouraged for levels that don't use such a pattern often.

There are lots of ways to cue Free Time Beats. If the rhythm doesn't fall into any pre-established gimmick, the best way to cue it is by showing a pattern once with CPU control, then repeating it and letting the player play it. If the same row has more pattern variation, keeping the Free Time Beats with a unique beatsound helps differentiate it from other patterns, and is the most common way of doing so.

Alternative ways of cueing Free Time Beats are by making a custom cue and pattern, though this is generally discouraged for levels that don't use such a pattern often.
