You're back. Thank god.
You can still hear me, right?
S-something happened while you were gone, it almost severed your connection to the hospital.
Phew, looks like Paige is back for her shift too.
What's going on? Why is the power flickering on and off?
You're just in time! I-I'm not sure what's happening.
Our network just became really unstable, it keeps losing connection.
My PC started overheating, all of them are.
And now even the electricity in the building is giving out!
The backup generators have taken over, but they're starting to overheat too.
Even my phone is acting strange...?
Did something happen? Did a power line go down?
Wait, forget it. How are the patients? Is everyone okay?
I-I started checking everyone as soon as I could.
Nobody's condition is out of the ordinary, except for...
...that chronic insomnia patient from earlier.
His heart rate is out of control.
The virus that was jamming our signal?
Whatever, it doesn't matter. Intern, let's go. We need you.
We can't let this virus take hold of the building, with so many patients here.
Just focus on the seventh beat, no matter what. |

Super Battleworn Insomniac, also known as Super Oriental Insomniac (1-XN) is a level in Rhythm Doctor. It is the Night Shift version of Battleworn Insomniac and features Insomniac Beats and the virus Connectifia Abortus.
It is the fourth boss level in the game. It is unlocked after beating Know You.
Synopsis
After the player returns to the hospital, Ian greets them, along with Paige, as he explains the situation to Paige; hospital devices overheating, network instability, and electronic malfunctioning. Confused, Paige keeps inquiring, as Ian reveals that all patients' conditions seem to be as usual, except for the Insomniac, whose heart rate is "out of control." Paige then urges the player to treat the Insomniac and prevent the virus from taking over the building, emphasizing to "focus on the seventh beat, no matter what." The player treats the Insomniac through more intense glitches and disruptions caused by the Connectifia Abortus virus. Halfway through the level, the virus breaks off a chunk of his heart, causing his heartbeat to be changed to 7/8th time, with the player having to rapidly adjust to this irregular time for the rest of the level, as the glitches and disruptions rise to such an intensity that the player has to rely almost solely on their own internal rhythm, as both the visuals and music become wildly unhelpful and distracting. After the level, the power comes back on, as all the patients in the hospital gradually gather around Ian and Paige, every single one of them thanking the two doctors for their hard work and care. Paige responds happily and tells all of them that she'll be right with them after they return to their rooms. Paige then tells the intern that they are "officially part of our Middlesea Hospital staff now, as far as she's concerned," and asks them to stay and perfect their rhythm treatments for each patient. She thanks the intern for all they have done, stating that there is still more work to do and that she'll get started whenever they're ready.
Transcript
- On first 4 attempts:
A complete relapse?! B-but... How...?
- On 5th attempt or higher:
Do I have to sound surprised every time? Yes. Quit whining. ...A relapse?!
- On fail, before second interlude:
D-don't give up!
[Interlude 2]
The virus... | |
It's-- it's broken off a chunk of his heart!
Hope you're good with irregular time, intern.
Here we go. |
[Interlude 3]
N-Nice! | |
Keep that same rhythm in your head now, stay calm. |
- On fail, after second interlude:
O-oh dear... This rhythm got confusing... Try drumming on a table in "seven-eight" time. If you can master that, this beat will be no problem!
- Rank screen, if level perfected:
Wow...not a scratch! Hmm.. You're really something, huh? Incredible.
It looks like he's going to be okay...
T-the power's back on...!
Everything seems to be working now.
I h-had no idea this virus could infect the building itself...
Where does it keep coming from?
If we keep working, you should eventually be able to figure it out, right?
I think so, yeah... | |
Phew... | |
Well. We did it. | |
Great work, everyone! | |
Now what? | |
Making the rounds and checking in on our patients.
I need to check whether Mr. Stevenson's bed settings are comfortable.
I'll also doublecheck that Mrs. Stevenson has tapioca pudding, it helps her swallow her pills.
Whatever it takes to make everyone's stay as comfortable as possible.
Oh, speaking of patients...what about Hailey? I hope her trip went okay.
I'm back! It went great!
And look, I found someone who was trying to run away!
Shhh, I told you I'd come back!
Did everybody miss me? | |
Did you leave the hospital just so you could drink coffee without us noticing?
What? No. | |
There's a cup in your hand right now!
Thank you, doctors. It feels like a weight has finally been lifted.
Of course! Let us know if you feel any more pain or discomfort.
Hello? What's all the commotion out there?
Where's my cane? If there's a party, don't any of you be starting without me!
S-sir, your physical therapy definitely hasn't started yet, please stay in your bed!!!
Looks like you're getting even more popular around here, doc.
Thanks for everything! Let me know when my rehab starts, I'm ready when you are.
Thanks for letting me go on that trip for my grandma, Dr Paige!
Thank you, for everything.
You're welcome, everyone! If you all head back to your rooms, I'll gladly visit you all so we can catch up.
And you, intern. Thank you so much for everything you've done
You're officially part of our Middlesea Hospital staff now, as far as I'm concerned.
Hey... don't tell Edega I said so, but I think you should take tomorrow off!
Even if you're working remotely, you still need a break every once in a while, right?
So go rest up! Ian and I will handle things while you're gone.
See ya! |
