Rhythm Doctor is a rhythm game developed by 7th Beat Games. Rhythm Doctor is a rhythm game where you heal patients by defibrillating in time to their heartbeats. Learn each patient's unique heartbeat and defeat boss viruses trying to sabotage your rhythm, all set to heart-pumping, soul-soothing music.

Core Gameplay
<b>Rhythm Doctor</b>'s core gameplay involves hitting a single button, likely the spacebar. The game's primary mechanic is the Classic Beat: the patient's row will play a set of 7 equally-spaced beats, and the player must press on the 7th. The game introduces other gimmicks that alter the core behaviour of classic beats as the game continues.<br>
These include things such as Row Xs, where red X's appear on the line making some of the beats silent, forcing you to keep the rhythm in your head.<br>
There are also visual distractions such as the game window "glitching", or various things blocking the line of beats from being seen. <!-- add something here about visual distractions and 1-x? -->

<b>Rhythm Doctor</b>'s secondary mechanic is the SVT Beat, also called a Oneshot: the patient's row will play a two-beat rhythm, and the player must press on the 2nd beat. A more intuitive way to think of Oneshots is to think of it like a kick-snare pattern. Since the player has 1 beat of anticipation and no reference for when to hit, oneshots follow a consistent, looping pattern which is cued by the Nurse beforehand. The game introduces other gimmicks that alter the core behaviour of oneshots as the game continues.

Story
Rhythm Doctor sees you as an Intern at Middlesea Hospital, where you, alongside your co-workers Ian and Dr. Paige, use a new technology called Rhythm Defibrillation to treat various heart conditions to the beat of a song.<br>
You treat a wide range of patients over the course of the game, their conditions caused by anything from lovesickness to a love for techno music.

<!--add info about the first 1 or 2 acts here to give the reader a general idea of what the story is like-->

<!-- also: maybe include act 3 stuff, maybe foreshadowing the last two acts' core conflict -->
<!-- also: i'm not sure if this should include complete story, since other pages cover it. a general overview would fit better -->

transcriptions and timestamps
hello :) i put up transcriptions for whatever i could, but i do have a few questions. all in good spirit! just wanna be accurate.
* what is the insomniac motif? im not totally certain myself, since to me it seems more like a variation on the oriental motif. if im missing something lmk
* the timestamps. im not sure what they point to most of the time? but they could be helpful. sort of what im asking is do we need them and if we do, do they need tidying up? would help clarify some motifs too
* lo-fi motif? this is to do with the timestamps to be honest, especially as in the bandcamp release, the intro to wish i could care less taken from lofi beats isnt there. ive taken it to be the solo part that gets riffed on in care less/beats to chill to but if consensus lies elsewhere do say
* also in the bandcamp release. lo-fi beats for patients to chill to is now lo-fi hip-hop beats to freeze patients to. not sure
* is the dreams dont stop quote at the end of 7x-2 enough to warrant a mention or is it too ehhh
* is the syncopated melody/rhythm in 6-1 and its tutorial enough to warrant a mention?

thats all i have for now. if my transcriptions are tragically wrong or just kinda bad feel free to replace em or let me know etc etc thank you :)))

more
awesome transcriptions :holding_back_tears_emoji:

* i feel like insomniac motif is referring to the oriental motif variation, though, within 1-XN it receives its 7/8 variation and extension (especially in the piano part) i feel like thats more identifiably "Insomniac Motif", given its the one that appears in 7-X / 7-X2. for an image ill probably just put the 2 looping bars at the start of the 1-XN piano part / 7-X2 reprise, or just the 4 bars of the normal motif as it first appears in 1-X
* keep the in-game name for 5-2, since it links to the level page and not OST release
* 7-x2 definitely Includes 5-X. but like. as liberal as this page is with what it considers leitmotifs i cannot hear the leitmotif listed on the page in 7-x2. i could maybe make the argument that it uses a super brief variation of the motif at 4:02 - 4:04 (bandcamp OST release), but that seems too farfetched
* i dont actually think adosah (lol) shares any melodic motifs with 6-1? rhythmic...sure i guess. but also seems to farfetched to consider a leitmotif
* HOWEVER. 7-1 and BLURRED (cutscene) MOST DEFINITELY need a leitmotif section. they are the best songs ever.
*

Azabiphetamine (talk) 20:17, 19 June 2026 (UTC)

cool awesome
* ive done up the start of the bwi piano part for insomniac, though i did actually do it as 4 bars of 7/8 rather than 2 or 7/4 or 7/8, as it is more 8 than 4, and semiquavers(+demisemiquavers) looked kinda messy since the beaming isnt as clear
* yeah the 5-x thing is defo pushing it a bit, its less a motif than just a reference
* no idea what i was on about with 6-1. i think i imagined it lmao
* with 7-1 and blurred cutscene though, they share mostly the full melody and i dont think(!!think) it appears anywhere else more fragmented? so strictly speaking what would the motif be in that case
* also im still kinda hung up on the inconsistent timestamps throughout the page. i do think theyre worth cleaning up and doing for more tracks, in reference to likely the bandcamp releases since its the most complete release i think? there are some differences between yt and bc(e.g. wish i could care less) so if these get neatened up itd be worth staying consistent

transcriptions and timestamps
hello :) i put up transcriptions for whatever i could, but i do have a few questions. all in good spirit! just wanna be accurate.

Unsustainable Inconsolable (5-2N) is a level in Rhythm Doctor. It is the Night Shift version of Lo-fi Beats For Patients To Chill To.

It introduces Burn Beats.

The track was created by Patricia Taxxon.

Synopsis
Lucky asks for a new form of pain relief, as the Freeze Beats' effect is no longer enough on its own. Edega gets Ian to demonstrate Burn Beats to the Intern, after which they use the new treatment on Lucky alongside the Freeze Beats. After the treatment, Lucky asks if anything they've tried "actually works", to which Edega tells him to be patient.

Gameplay
2-player mode
There are 2 Luckys, and each player treats one. Player 1 has Freeze Beats while Player 2 has Burn Beats. Each time Player 2 has a Burn Beat, Player 1 has a Skipshot, but this does not happen the other way around—whenever Player 1 has a Freeze Beat, Player 2 continues the Oneshot pattern as normal. During the final segment, both Players alternate between having a Triangleshot pattern and not, and both play the quintuplet at the end.
A-all I'm saying is..

The best part about the rhythm defibrillator is that it's designed to do one thing and do it well.

It regulates irregular heartbeats. That's it.

Your obsession with keeping this system elegant and streamlined is getting old.

Your "freeze beat" prototype passed the first test. This tech has so much more to offer.

I mean, sort of? But there is still a lot I need to do to help get the previous patients ready to go home.

Ada and I have been trying to finish their treatments. B-but you keep asking me to make all these new-

I'm not asking.

...

Looks like the intern is here. How nosy. Go ahead, show them what you came up with.

H-hey! I've got another rhythm treatment for muscle pain.

Sometimes, the freeze beats aren't enough on their own.

So...uh, I tried reversing all the plugs from the cooling console...

...and now it creates a blast of heat that shortens the next heartbeat!

I think it will be soothing. Like a hot spring in your veins! <span style="color:#c0c0c0">(Maybe.)</span>
Player Two, watch carefully. I'll demo it.
Player One, just follow the usual pattern.

Alright! Let's practice!

I don't really have a name for this treatment. We can call them, uhh... <span style="color:#ff0000">burn beats</span>?

Just like freeze beats, burn beats can change up their timing. Just listen to the cue and you'll be fine.

Now, let's try alternating between both treatments.
::<small>(Two-Player)</small>
Player One, you're in charge of freeze beats!

<span style="color:#c0c0c0">(...when did it get so cold in here?)</span>

Ready?
::<small>If just one beat is missed:</small>:
::{|

Wow, perfect. You learn quickly! It...sort of freaks me out? Haha.
::<small>If half the beats are hit:</small>:
::{|

Good enough!
That baseball guy keeps bugging me to try another treatment on him.

This still isn't a magic fix for his shoulder, but maybe it'll keep the pain down.

* The official 7th Beat Games upload of this song on their Youtube differs in some ways compared to the version found in the files of the game. When phase inverted with each other, it reveals that the Youtube upload includes the hitsounds (as the level's hitsounds are the main drums you hear) and has different mixing and mastering compared to the in-game file.
* Of all the levels that have achievements tied to them, this is the only one requires that you achieve an A rank, not an S+.

* Of all the levels that have achievements tied to them, this one only requires that you achieve an A rank, not an S+.
* Of all the levels that have achievements tied to them, this one only requires that you achieve an A+, not an S+.
Sleeve Paint is where the player can customise the appearance of the sleeve on the Intern's arm. It can be found on Ian's computer in the basement, and is accessible without Ian's password.

In the editor, almost every aspect of the hand and sleeve's appearance is customisable. The skin tone and nails can be changed to one of fourteen colours, and the sleeve itself can also be changed to a block colour. There is also a brush tool with three sizes, letting the player draw on the sleeve. There is an eraser tool, a clear all button, and an undo button which will only undo/redo the most recent brush stroke.
Easter Eggs
Rhythm Dogtor
You can see and hear a secret code in Ada's room, which you can press in order to play a secret level, which is a parody of 3-X One Shift More.
The code is a paradiddle rudiment, entered on the level select screen:
R L R R L R L L R L R R L R L L

Hurry Up!
In 3-X "One Shift More", after the line "But they've been waiting for so long", if the player doesn't press the last beat, the Politician's urging can be heard.
; "Oh, come on, make your move! Hurry up!"
; "You can do it, come on! Hurry up!"
; "Any time. Now, come on! Let's go!"
; "Make a move already, would you?"
; "Oh.... bloody hell, hurry up already?"
After that, he'll press the last beat.
Do I have to?
In 1-XN "Super Battleworn Insomniac", if you fail or reset too many times Ian will eventually get annoyed.
; Ian: "Do I have to sound surprised every time?"
; Paige: "Yes. Quit whining."
; Ian: "...A complete relapse?!"
The rest of the level goes on as normal

Special Sleeves
Entering "nbrights" or "transrights" in the Sleeve Paint screen will change your sleeve to the respective flag.

Christmas Metreenome
When you open the editor between December 21st and 31st (inclusive), the metronome will look like a Christmas tree and the sound will change to bells.
Samurai.
Typing "Samurai." (with the dot and capital S) in the Story Mode select screen or Main Menu will change most text in the game to only display "Samurai." Floating Text events will only display one syllable per line, which will always be "Samurai." The text can also be changed back to normal by typing "Samurai." again.
Heartshot
While selecting a Oneshot Beat in the editor, holding Shift and H will allow you to make the pulse heart-shaped, similar to the final beat of All The Times.
Hidden Editor Characters
In the editor, holding Ctrl, Shift, and Alt and then changing a row's character will allow you to select characters otherwise not shown in the editor, such as Ian or Edega.
Getting Scolded
If you repeatedly select a locked level, Edega will tell you to stop.
Headache
If you hold left or right while in the level select menu of story mode for long enough, Edega will tell you to stop.
Give me a breather!
In the day shift in the SVT ward, if you swap between Supraventricular Tachycardia and Lo-fi Hip-Hop Beats To Treat Patients To constantly, Cole will get tired and will take a breather in between the 2 levels.
Tired Chick
In the custom level menu, if you wait on any level for a few minutes, the chick who holds the screen will get tired, slowly descend and eventually drop the screen. It then goes off screen to get a new screen.

Alright! Let's practice!

I don't really have a name for this treatment. We can call them, uhh... <span style="color:#ff0000">burn beats</span>?

The level begins immediately after the Act 1 tutorial. The player treats the Samurai in a Japanese themed room which transitions to a surreal space background. After the level, Paige remarks that the Rhythm Doctor program "really works", and that the player will be a huge help around the hospital with how busy they've been recently. The player then moves on to their treatment of a new adolescent patient.

Paige is a character that appears in Rhythm Doctor. Paige makes her first appearance in the tutorial of the game when she explains the 7 beat mechanic to the player. In levels, Paige uses primarily Swing beats, however is also seen using Row Xs.

Appearance
Paige wears glasses with blue frames and a white lab coat with a light blue T-shirt underneath, along with dark brown shoes and a stethoscope. She is of average height, with light skin and long, brown hair. She also carries a red clown nose and Yo-Yo in her pockets, as seen in both her static "Happy" expression, and her walking "Happy" expression.

Personality
Paige has been shown to be a very caring person, even (as stated in her character description) to her own detriment, as she goes out of her way multiple times to give others a helping hand. For example, she allows Hailey to go on a trip during her hospital stay at the beginning of Act 4, and made a consolation prize out of soda cans for Ian during college. Additionally, interacting with the Janitor after completing Invisible reveals that she gave the eldest child of one of her patients a birthday gift.

It can also be assumed that Paige is a social person outside of work, though her being overworked has recently put strain on her relationships. For example, in One Shift More, she states that she has lost a lot of friends and was unable to be present for them because of how much work has been placed on her.

Relationships
*She is good friends and coworkers with Ian. It is also known that they went to college together.
*She is the subordinate of Dr. Edega, whose passive-aggressive comments make her feel stressed or expendable.
*Nicole and Paige seem to be friends, as Paige is seen venting about her stress to Nicole in Song of the Sea (Night).
*Richard Hugh is seen complaining about her and the hospital. Paige is noticeably frustrated by this.
*Otherwise, Paige has a positive relationship with all patients in the hospital.

Trivia
*Ada Paige's name is likely to be a reference to Patch Adams. This is further backed up by her having a clown nose in her Happy animation.
**Her name is also a reference to Pagers, which are mentioned in 'One Shift More', where she gets paged to help patients.
*Ada is 27 years old, as stated in her character description.
